Whales of Iceland is the largest whale museum in Europe. The 23 life-sized models of whales species found around Iceland are each modeled after an actual whale in the wild. The museum features underwater soundscapes & lighting, multiple interactive experiences, and a new exhibit highlighting the threats (and their solutions) that whales face today. Two documentaries are screened throughout the day for guests: Whale Wisdom, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and Sonic Sea, narrated by Rachel McAdams. The Atomic Museum is one of a handful of private national museums and showcases some of the rarest of artifacts relating to the nation’s atomic testing program. Nowhere else can you see a large nuclear reactor that was used in the development of the nuclear rocket and the first air-to-air missile, Genie. Personal atomic weapons that were developed to use in place of conventional weapons such as the Backpack Nuke and the Davy Crockett Weapon System (recoilless gun) are placed throughout the 8,000 square feet of museum exhibits.

The Audain Art Museum opened in 2016 and was founded by Vancouver home builder and philanthropist Michael Audain and his wife Yoshiko Karasawa. The 56,000 square foot LEED certified structure is located in Whistler, British Columbia, and was designed by the award-winning architectural firm Patkau Architects. The Museum’s permanent collection showcases the Art of British Columbia from the late 18th century to present. Anchoring the collection is James Hart’s The Dance Screen (The Scream Too), the most significant contemporary carved cedar Dance Screen in the world. Other highlights include an important collection of 19th and 20th century First Nations masks and works by some of Canada’s most celebrated artists including Emily Carr, E.J. Hughes and the internationally renowned photo-conceptualists Jeff Wall and Stan Douglas. In addition to the permanent collection the Museum has visiting exhibitions of art from Canada and around the world.
