Kuelap, called the other Machu Picchu, is located very close to Chachapoyas. It is one of the most representative archaeological sites in the lower montane forest of Peru. Gocta Waterfall is a place everyone should visit, not only to see the huge waterfall, but also to experience a pleasant hike along this spectacular scenery.

Chachapoyas is described by historians as a "Great Kingdom", for its large territory and organization. It holds many stone monuments, funeral buildings and mausoleums that can take us to a magical and unique place.

During the morning you will travel through the Chachapoyas forest for about an hour in direction of the Sarcophagi of Karajía. These sarcophagi are elaborate two-meter high clay sculptures that rest on the edge of a rocky cliff of limestone, looking towards the abyss. The visit to the place will last approximately 40 minutes after which you will head back to Chachapoyas.

During the morning you will be transferred from Chachapoyas to the town of Cruzpata. From there, you will walk in the direction of the sarcophagi of Karajía. These sarcophagi are elaborate two-meters high clay sculptures that rest on the edge of a rocky cliff of limestone, looking towards the abyss. The visit will last approximately 40 minutes. Then you will visit the Cave of Quiocta, a 550-meters long cave that was used as a cemetery by pre Columbian civilizations. Enjoy the surreal underground landscape made up of stalagmites and stalactites.

All of these tours surrounded by amazing landscapes in the beautiful rain forest region of the Peruvian Amazon. All you have to do is book your 1-hr flight to Jaen airport from Lima and we take care of the rest, including all transfers, meals, accomodation and tours in small groups. You will stay at Hotel Villa de Paris which offers a pool with views of the mountains. It is located less than 2 km from the main square of Chachapoyas. It has WiFi, parking and room service. Today you will hike to Cocachimba, a paradise in the middle of the jungle that houses different waterfalls, including Gocta, one of the highest waterfalls in the world. Walk along a beautiful route full of vegetation and wild animals. You will enjoy wonderful views and the imposing waterfall where the strength of the water and the pleasant sensation of the dew will renew you.

You will leave Chachapoyas in direction of the town of San Bartolo from where the walk of approximately 30 minutes to the Revash mausoleums begins. Revash is a funerary complex composed of "chullpas" (funerary towers) of one and two floors of height, painted of other colors. Afterward, you will be transferred to Leymebamba to visit the Leymebamba Museum which houses more than 200 mummies recovered from the Condor Lagoon, which can be appreciated along with their funeral offerings. The design of the building recreates the local architecture, using local materials. The beautiful garden surrounding the museum contains more than 100 varieties of orchids. After this visit, you will return to Chachapoyas.
