Tromsø: In the footsteps of Roald Amundsen


In the company of your own guide, you can explore the city by foot on this unique walking tour. The tour is organized with 3 hours duration. On this tour we take you on a walk around the small city centre of Tromsø that has been founded in 1795 on the island of Tromsøya and its surrounding. The city has, also called the Gateway to the Arctic, been throughout history the start for several Polar Expedition. Tromsø has long been an important base for many polar expeditions, and the Polar Museum exhibits and presents this polar seafaring tradition. After the visit at the Polar Museum, we will go to Full Steam where we will visit the exhibitions about the Maritime and Fisheries history as well as Sea Sami culture and history. The walk continues through the “Storgata” towards the Framsenter (the main building in Tromsø for research in the arctic). We will walk next to Ølhallen, Tromsøs oldest pub which used to be a popular place to stay for fishermen and explorers.

Do you know that just 40mn train ride from Paris, you can be totally immersed in the Nature ? During your stay in Paris, how about doing something different and taking a hike in the most scenic countryside. This experience, in small group of less than 10, brings you in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, the famous Dutch painter, from Pontoise to Meriel via Auvers sur Oise. He painted several famous art pieces in Auvers sur Oise (80 to be exact). He died in 1890 and was buried in the village along with his brother Theo. Our walk will also take you through the city of Pontoise, the countryside of the Vexin , in the quaint village of Auvers sur Oise, where we take our train back to Paris. after a guided tour by your tour guide. PLEASE BE ADVISED that this is a 6 miles HIKE with some hills. You need to be fit enough if you want to enjoy the walk. That means you should be able to walk at least 5km at a GOOD pace and without rest. Please note that the tour lasts 5 hours.
