Agadir Trip Overview
Known as Agadir Oufella in Tachelhit (Berber language), which measn the high Agadir, this site is the prettiest in city. The Kasbah of Agadir Oufella is a citadel that dominates the Atlantic ocean and the city by it height of 236 meters. It was erected by Mohamed Ech-Cheikh ( Founder of the Saadi dynasty) in 1540 to lead the city of Agadir, then to protect it from the Portuguese attacks back then. This spot is to be reenforced after two centuries , in 1752, by Mouay Abdellah who installed a garrison of two thousand men there. After the Earthquake that took place in Agadir during the year 1960, only the walls of the Kasbah survived, and the entry portal which has a Dutsch writitng that says: “Fear God, and Respect the king”, a reminder that Netherlands occuppied the place in 1746 under the sovereignty of the Saadi Sultan. The Kasbah is an Ideal place to witness a magistic sunset.
