Day 2: Rabat – Chefchaouen

Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes:

Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Low & High Atlas Mt – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Desert

The modern town of Ifrane was established by the French administration in 1928 during the protectorate era for their administration due to its Alpine climate. Ifrane was conceived as a “hill station” or colonial type of settlement. It is a resort town set high up in the mountains so that Europeans can find relief from the summer heat of tropical colonies. Ifrane is also a popular altitude training destination.

Midelt is located in the heart of the middle Atlas known for the Apple valleys. We would stop here for lunch.

As we arrive in Merzouga, a little village facing the huge sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. The camels should be ready for the trekking but we would have the welcoming Sahara tea first.

Day 6: Merzouga – 4×4 Safari tour around the Sand dunes and old slaves village.

Khamlia is a special village in the heart of the desert which has been known for the slave tribes. We will join a local Gnaoua music band for a tea refreshment and entertainment.

You will have a 4×4 tour to explore the villages and nomads around the Sand Dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will definitely stop and have tea with a nomad family.

Day 7: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra valley & gorge – Dades valley & gorge

A very interesting stop. There is a bit of a history of the fossils found in this area and a crude but informative short narration and fossil display. The showroom has large displays of marble coffee tables, fountains, sinks and anything else you wish to have manufactured out of this rock. The work is quite beautiful as each piece contains fossilized sea life from millions of years ago. Hard to believe that this area was once part of a huge body of water. You could still pick out small souvenirs that contain fossilized sea life without having to spend a fortune.

Day 8: Dades valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech

While its nearby neighbor Bab er-Robb acts as the official entrance to the city, Bab Agnaou functions as the main entrance to the Kasbah which is the site of the El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the El Mansouria (the kasbah mosque). Bab Aganou is perhaps the most unique of Marrakech’s nineteen gates and its original functions, as a royal entrance, is perhaps the reason for this. The corner pieces are decorated with floral decorations extending around a shell is simply exquisite and this ornamentation is framed by three panels and on these panels is an inscription from the Quran.
