Itinerary

Day 1: CASABLANCA – RABAT – FES

Stop At: Casablanca, Casablanca, Casablanca-Settat
We will meet you in the airport or in your hotel in Casablanca and drive to Fes passing by Rabat and Meknes.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Rabat, Rabat, Rabat-Sale-Kenitra
Explore capital city: medina and kasbah.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Volubilis, Morocco
We can make short stops to visit the important places in those cities as well as the Roman ruins then it’s on to Fes where you’ll arrive in the evening and here you’ll overnight in a traditional Moroccan house (riad).

Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
Overnight in Fes medina hotel.

Day 2: EXPLORING FES

Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
Most of the morning will be spent visiting the medina (the old city) and its alleys.
Your visit starts by visiting the Jewish Quarter (the Mellah) and the Royal Palace (yard), which is the biggest one in the country. You will be visiting the famous tanneries and the Quaraouine mosque considered the first university in the world. You’ll experience a wonderful panoramic view of the city. Overnight accommodation will be at the same riad.

Day 3: FES – AZROU – MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – MERZOUGA

Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
After breakfast, we’ll leave Fes travelling towards Ifrane, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco”. During this journey you’ll see glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Azrou, Azrou, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where you may well see Barbarian apes. Lunch will be in Midelt in a traditional Moroccan restaurant , then afterwards we’ll travel through the Tizi Ntalghamt pass and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock and along the spectacular Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way.

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
We’ll drive through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud and then Rissani, before arriving to Merzouga. Here you’ll be welcomed by a glass of mint tea before you check in to our guest house beside the sand dunes.

Day 4: MERZOUGA AREA – THE CAMEL TREK AND OVERNIGHT IN THE CAMP

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Enjoy exploring the area. You’ll be visiting the Gnawa people in their village Khamlia, where you will learn about the Gnawa music and their lifestyle. Afterwards, we’ll drive in Sahara desert area where we can meet nomad families still living under Berber tents which are made from wool of their animals. Today our lunch will be a local meal (Berber pizza) with a Berber family.

Stop At: Rissani, Rissani, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
We visit the old city of Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty – the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Rissani is surrounded by about 360 ksar (a fortified village with many towers) and has a big souk (an open market), held three times a week. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuctou in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, packed with spices, vegetables and cloths.

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Later we will drive back to the village of Merzouga, where your camel will be waiting for you, guided by an experienced camel man. The camel ride takes about 1 hour to arrive to the camp-where you will spend the night- in the middle of the highest sand dunes to enjoy the sunset and watch stars. The dinner will be served at the camp.

Day 5: MERZOUGA – TODGHA GORGES – DADES VALLEY

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise in your life, then you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village. En-route you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses.

Stop At: Gargantas del Todra, Tinerhir 45800 Morocco
After breakfast and shower in the Riad, you’ll leave for Rissani, Tinghir and Todgha gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Dades Gorges, R704 Atlas Mountains, Boumalne Dades 45350 Morocco
After lunch in the heart of the gorge we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight in our traditional guest house with dinner and breakfast.

Day 6: DADES VALLEY – OUARZAZATE –AIT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH

Stop At: Dades Gorges, R704 Atlas Mountains, Boumalne Dades 45350 Morocco
After breakfast, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat M’Gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs – providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip.

Stop At: Valley of the Roses, Dades Valley near Bouteghrar, El Kelaa M’gouna 43000 Morocco
We’ll stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Souss-Massa
Our journey will continue to Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. The Kasbah was built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains during the 18th century, now it is a house of many Glaoui people.

Stop At: Marrakech, Marrakech, Marrakech-Safi
Your journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains, where we can stop to discover the way and the process of making the argain oil by the Berber women their cooperatives before arriving at your accommodation in Marrakech.
