What makes Chefchaouen Full Day Private City Tour Departure from Casablanca a unique experience ?
Nestled in the serenity of Chefchaouen, the cemetery, small in size, evokes the remnants of a once-thriving culture. While strolling through its peaceful alleys, visitors may notice that many graves bear inscriptions written in Arabic, thus bearing witness to the rich historical heritage deeply embedded in this tranquil place. This sacred site serves as a poignant reminder of the history and cultural diversity that have shaped this region over the centuries.
The Andalusian-style medina unquestionably forms the heart of the city’s allure, captivating visitors with its unique architectural charm, winding alleys that unveil hidden treasures at every corner, and an enchanting ambiance that transports travelers to a bygone era of splendor and culture.
This majestic Kasbah was constructed in the 15th century, precisely in the year 1471, by Rachid Ben Ali.
During this time, the attacks by Christians were quite frequent, as they sought to gain control of Morocco. This prompted the resistance movement, led by the Banu Rashid family, to declare a Holy War. Shortly thereafter, the same Banu family commissioned the construction of this imposing Kasbah to protect the city. The Kasbah included a mosque (Jama El Kebir) and various nearby dwellings, which were in turn surrounded and shielded by a wall, thus forming the core of the city of Chefchaouen, which rapidly grew and developed.
Just outside Chefchaouen’s medina, the Ras El Maa waterfall is often used as a place for washing textiles. If you join a guided tour of the city, you might discover this spot, primarily frequented by locals.
The central square of Chefchaouen is brimming with budget-friendly restaurants for lunch or dinner, making it a bustling hub of activity. Located in this square are the kasbah (fortress) and the city’s first mosque
The mosque was built by the Spanish in the 1920s, but never used. It fell into disrepair and remains closed, but the grounds out front make for a perfect place to behold the blue city and watch the sunset dip behind the green hills with a freshly squeezed orange juice in hand.
