Itinerary

Day 1: Chefchaouen– Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Stop At: Chefchaouen, Chefchaouen, Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima
After breakfast, we will meet you in your hotel and start traveling to Fes via Ouazzan and the Roman site of Volubilis.
Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Volubilis, Morocco
After a couple of hours drive, you will get to Volubilis, the well preserved Roman empire dating to 225 BC, where you will see the most beautiful Mosaics in Morocco dating back to 3rd century BC. Here you will have a guided tour of the site and learn a lot about the Roman Empire.

Stop At: Meknes, Meknes, Fes-Meknes
After that we travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes, we see the fascinating gate Bab Mansour built by the sultan My Ismail. The granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and plantation. Your visit includes also the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.

We then continue via the highway to Fes. Overnight accommodation at a fancy riad in the medina.

Day 2: Exploring Fes

Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring Fes the “the Spiritual City of Morocco”.

You will spend the whole morning exploring the Medina and its valleys. Visiting most of the sites with cultural and historical interest, including the famous Al Karaouine Mosque and University (the oldest in the world), the Madrasa Bouanania, the Tanneries, and the Najjarine fountain. After lunch, we will drive you outside the Medina to see the Royal Palace gate, walk through the Jewish quarter “the Mellah”, and then visit the pottery cooperative. In the afternoon, we will drive you to one of the fortresses to experience an amazing panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fes. Overnight accommodation at the local riad.

Stop At: Mosque and University Karaouiyn, Fes, Morocco
We explore The University of al-Qarawiyyin, also written Al-Karaouine, which is a university located in Fes, Morocco. It is the oldest existing, continually operating higher educational institution in the world according to UNESCO and Guinness World Records, and is occasionally referred to as the oldest university by scholars.

We explore the Madrasa Bou Inania, a madrasa in Fes, Morocco, founded in AD 1351–56 by Abu Inan Faris. It is widely acknowledged as a high point of Marinid architecture and of historic Moroccan architecture generally.

We explore the exterior of the Royal palace, popular for photos in front of a colorful, imposing facade and gold-colored doors. The royal palace was built in the thirteenth century under the reign of Mérinides Dynasty in the heart of Fes El Jadid, district adjacent to the Old City.

Stop At: Medina of Fez, Fes 30000 Morocco
We will explore the Medina of Fes. Fes El Bali is an ancient walled medina with narrow, car-free streets and ornamented entryways like Bab Guissa and the Blue Gate. The Medina of Fez preserves, in an ancient part comprising numerous monumental buildings.

Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga

Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
After breakfast we will start travelling south to Merzouga desert via Midelt and Errachidia.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ifrane, Ifrane, Fes-Meknes
Your first stop will be at Ifrane city, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco”, and then to Merzouga via Midelt and the Ziz Valley. During this journey, you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at the famous cedar forest – the largest one in Morocco, where you will have the opportunity to see the Barbarian apes. You’ll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the Errachidia city.

Stop At: Midelt, Midelt, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
After lunch in Midelt, your journey continues along the spectacular Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We will drive through Berber villages to Erfoud, then to Rissani. The foundation of the Alaouite dynasty, the current ruling royal family in Morocco.

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Arriving in Merzouga at the end of the day, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and ride your camel to see the sunset in the middle of the highest sand dunes in Morocco and spend the night there. Overnight at our desert camp where you will have your dinner.

Day 4: Sahara Desert – Todgha Gorge – Dades Valley

Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise in your life. Afterwards, you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to your riad appreciating the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes, changing with the light as the day progresses.

Stop At: Gargantas del Todra, Tinerhir 45800 Morocco
After breakfast and hot shower in a traditional guest house, you’ll leave for Tinghir and Todgha gorges, the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Here you’ll have the opportunity to hike along its valley.

Stop At: Dades Gorges, R704 Atlas Mountains, Boumalne Dades 45350 Morocco
We’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight accommodation will be in a riad or a guesthouse in the heart of the gorge (dinner and breakfast).

Day 5: Dades Valley – Ait Benhaddou Kashbah – Marrakech

Stop At: Dades Gorges, R704 Atlas Mountains, Boumalne Dades 45350 Morocco
After breakfast, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat M’Gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is named the way of thousand Kasbahs, providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. We’ll stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over.

Stop At: Ouarzazate, Ouarzazate, Draa-Tafilalet
Continue to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”. Exploring Atlas studio and kasbah in the city centre.

Stop At: Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Souss-Massa
Lunch will be at the famous Ait Benhaddou kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco. It is recognized by UNESCO as a world patrimony. It is famous as a backdrop for many films, including ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘Gladiator’.

Stop At: Marrakech, Marrakech, Marrakech-Safi
Our journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains where you can stop also to explore the process of making the Argan oil at the women’s cooperatives before arriving to your accommodation in Marrakech, where the tour ends.
