Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1 (2020) : Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga :

Pass By: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
After breakfast you’ll leave Fes travelling towards Ifrane, situated in the northwestern slope of the Middle Atlas at 1630 meters above the water level. Its broad avenues, its urban development with perfect cleanness, the gardens, the green areas and its architecture make this city look like a swiss town. Ifrane feels misplaced in Morocco. That’s why it´s named the Moroccan Switzerland, and if that´s not enough it has an important ski resort, Michlifen. After that we will continue our way through the Cedar forest where, if we are lucky, we´ll see some monkeys. The next place we´ll visit is the city of Midelt, just in the heart of the Atlas where you´ll have free time for lunch and rest for a while. In the afternoon we continue our way to Erfoud along the Ziz valley by a successive series of fortified villages through the Tafilalet palm grove, the biggest in the world. You´ll see thousands of palm trees along the 20km of road. This way leads us to the Ziz valley, which river comes down from the high Atlas and feeds the palm grove. Here we make a stop and from this high viewpoint, enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and the town of AOUFOUS. Late afternoon arriving to Merzouga to ride your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore what is hidden in the middle of the highest sand dunes of morocco to reach desert camp. We climb high dune to watch the sunset in the dunes. until you arrive into the camp you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea, symbol of hospitality in the desert of Merzouga. after that you will check your luxury camp equipped with a privative bathroom to take shower and relax for a while. then you’ll enjoy a freshly-prepared Moroccan dinner and an evening of Berber drumming under the stars in a tranquility. You’ll sleep in a Deluxe Luxury Camp classed as a hotel 5 stars in the style of Berber nomads. After dinner you will enjoy and dance on desert tones under the stars and around the fire in a tranquility.

After a delicious luxury breakfast, we have to say goodbye to the desert and we will go to Rissani where we will visit its market (if we are lucky and it is one of the market days: Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday) we will follow the road to Erfoud where there is possibility to visit the factory of fossilized marble before continuing to the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. 1 hour later we will arrive at one of the strongest points of the High Atlas: The Todra Gorges. The channel of the Todra River has formed a defile of vertical walls of enormous proportions and of great beauty; It is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. Lunch at the site and a half hour walk would be recommended to see and enjoy the Gorges in detail.
