What to Expect When Visiting Fes, Fez-Meknès, Morocco

Drive to Tangier, the “Pearl of Northern Morocco”. Visit Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean, a recently refurbished museum is housed in the former sultan’s palace of Dar El Makhzen. See the modest tomb of Ibn Battuta, said to be the last resting place of Ibn Battuta, born in Tangier in 1304 and was known as the greatest traveler of that period, even outpacing Marco Polo. View St Andrew’s Church, completed in 1890 on land granted by Sultan Hassan. The inside of this Anglican church is decorated in high Fassi style, and the Lord’s Prayer in written in Arabic over the altar. Behind the altar is a cleft that indicates the direction of Mecca, with carved quotes from the Quran. Stroll the Medina, contained by the walls of a 15th-century Portuguese fortress. At the end of the tour, Drive back to Fez.
