Itinerary
Day 1: FEZ – IFRANE and AZROU in the Atlas Mountains – MERZOUGA and the ERG CHEBBI DUNES in the Sahara Desert
Stop At: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
Your tour begins at 7 AM when your experienced, English speaking driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel or riad to begin your unforgettable journey to Merzouga in the Sahara Desert, where the Erg Chebbi Dunes wait for you. Famed for their great height; up to 50 metres tall, and stretching away eastwards all the way into Algeria, this is one of Morocco’s ‘must to do’ experiences.
But first, you will have the thrill of the drive up into the middle Atlas mountains where the first stop will be in Ifrane, known as Morocco’s Switzerland because of it’s alpine style of architecture.
The next stop is in the aromatic cedar forests around the tranquil town of Azrou, seeing the magic of nature and the biggest and elder cedar tree! Then the beautiful drive continues through the mountains until you reach the main edge of Sahara town of Rissani and onwards into the desert until, as if by magic, the Erg Chebbi Dunes suddenly appear out of nowhere.
Then, the HIGHLIGHT of the day : a ninety minute camel trek under the setting sun to reach our Berber camp which is surrounded by the towering sand dunes. Here you can relax listening to traditional Berber music and watch the bright moon and millions of stars, seemingly so close you could touch them. Enjoy your specially prepared dinner and drift off to sleep under the stars in the amazing Sahara Desert camp.

Day 2: ERG CHEBBI DUNES – TODRA GORGE – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH
Stop At: Merzouga, Merzouga, Draa-Tafilalet
Wake up to a breathtaking sunrise over the dunes and ride your camel back through the ever shifting shadows to our hotel where you will enjoy a hearty breakfast. Then it’s off to Marrakech, first passing through the incredible Todra Gorge, a 300 metre high canyon cut by a river through the rock of the eastern High Atlas Mountains. We will stop near the town of Tinghir where you will have the chance to do some hiking. Afterwards, you will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate, one of the most beautiful and interesting sites in southern Morocco, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the kasbah’s delightful traditional Moroccan architecture before continuing your trip through the High Atlas Mountains, twisting through the snaky, winding roads of the Tizi n’Tichka pass, beautiful Berber villages perched on the mountainsides among stunning vistas of the countryside. The journey ends in Marrakech, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
