To be honest, few travelers make it to Azrou to visit the city, as it is its cedar forests that have made the region famous.
The most famous inhabitant of these forests is the Grand Cèdre Gouraud, the largest millennial cedar in the region. Unfortunately, he died a few years ago from a plague of processionary caterpillars.
A few meters from the Cèdre Gouraud, you will find stalls selling souvenirs, drinks and peanuts. These stalls have created their business thanks to the hundreds of Gibraltar monkeys that inhabit the area, as people like to “play” with the macaques and feed them.
