Itinerary
Day 1: Day 1: Marrakech to Zagora
Stop At: Ouarzazate, Ouarzazate, Draa-Tafilalet
Starting at 7.30 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech and begin our adventure, heading across the Atlas mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass. This mountain road has some of the most beautiful views in Morocco, and you’ll even be able to spot the various Berber villages dotted along the way.
Once we’ve crossed the pass, we’ll arrive at Ouarzazate for a quick lunch. We’ll explore the winding streets, check out the various markets, shops, and architecture before continuing our journey in the afternoon.
We’ll continue along the Tizi-n-Tinififte pass before reaching the head of the Draa Valley at Agdz. We’ll then head off the main road toward the Sahara, taking the same caravan route that has been used by the Berbers for hundreds of years.
Once we’ve arrived at Zagora and the desert dunes, we’ll take a camel ride across the dunes to our campsite. Once we’ve arrived, we’ll relax, watch the desert sunset from the top of the dunes, and have a cooked Berber dinner under the stars.
Duration: 1 hour
Meals included:
• Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight under tent in desert camp
Day 2: Day 2: Zagora to Marrakech
Stop At: Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Souss-Massa
If you get up early enough on the second day, you’ll be treated to the stunning desert sunrise, where shadows stretch across the dunes and the sky slowly lights up with incredible colours. We would absolutely recommend getting up early to experience this.
Once you’re ready to go, we’ll start our journey back up to Marrakech.
Along the way, we’ll stop off at the famous UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou: an ancient fortress kasbah that’s stood the test of time. This fortress was used to manage the hundreds of trade caravans that took goods to and from Africa and beyond — a fascinating location for those who like history and architecture. The streets really give you a sense of what life was like in the past.
From there, we’ll head further along the road to Telouet Kasbah before continuing towards Marrakech. We’ll then say our goodbyes and leave you at your hotel where you can continue your holiday or catch your flight home.
