For that reason, and with increasing enquiries, we decided to suggest a Marrakech to Fes desert trip for you to take advantage of and combine the Sahara desert with the two amazing cities of Marrakech and Fes.
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley (7 HOURS)
Stop At: Marrakech, Marrakech, Marrakech-Safi
Your Marrakech to Fes desert tour will start in the morning with pick up from your hotel or the nearest accessible point to your riad. After driving past Marrakech suburbs, full of small towns, and different farms.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Atlas Mountains
We will start driving uphill to cross the High Atlas Mountains. A quick stop for a coffee and toilet will be made before we reach the famous Tizi Ntichka pass ( 2260 m high ).

Stop At: Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Souss-Massa
Numerous stops will be made to take photos and stretch your legs before the landscape dramatically changes upon approaching Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, This UNESCO classified village is one of the most visited landmarks in Morocco. It is famous for having been, and still is used for different Hollywood epics ( Game of Thrones, Kingdom of Heaven, Gladiator, etc…. )
If you wish, you can hire a local guide with the rest of the group ( optional ) for a visit to the village before you choose a local cafe for lunch.

Stop At: Dades Gorges, R704 Atlas Mountains, Boumalne Dades 45350 Morocco
In the afternoon, we continue to Dades Valley past Ouarzazate, Skoura oasis and Klaa Mgrouna, the latter is famous for its Damascus rose plantation and distillation. The journey between Ouarzazate and Dades is also known as ‘’ The road of 1001 Kasbahs’’
Upon arrival at Boumalne Dades, deviate to a minor road driving past amazing scenery of Dades River, with different fortified Berber villages in the back.
Arrive at your Dad’s Hotel just before it gets dark, and enjoy your dinner.

Day 2: Dades valley – Tinghir – Rissani – Merzouga (4 HOURS)

After having enjoyed your breakfast, get ready for an amazing journey which will be the highlight of your shared Marrakech to Fez desert tour
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Tinerhir, Tinerhir, Souss-Massa
Your next stop will be at Tinghir oasis, where you will have the chance of walking along the stream under the shade of date palm and olive trees witnessing local Berbers taking care of their crops or herding their cattle.
The walk will lead you to the majestic cliffs of Todgha Gorges where you will have the opportunity to take some photos and enjoy the silence.

Stop At: Rissani, Rissani, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
After lunch at leisure at one of the local cafes, we will continue early in the afternoon to Rissani, famous for its dates market, and being a starting point of the ancient trading caravans crossing the Sahara desert to Tombouctou. After a quick stop, we will continue to Merzouga driving through some rocky desert landscape.

Stop At: Merzouga Desert, Merzouga Morocco
Upon arrival at the edge of Erg Chebbi dunes, we will meet our camel caravan, and ride our camels through the amazing color-changing sand dunes with the sunset in the horizon as a backdrop. We reach our Sahara desert camp; nestled in the middle of nowhere; just before darkness. After some time to admire the sand dunes and the surrounding landscapes, get ready for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars next to the campfire. Late at night, your local nomad hosts will be entertaining you with their drums.

Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Ifran – Fes (8 HOURS)
Stop At: Merzouga Desert, Merzouga Morocco
After an early sunrise camel ride crossing Erg Chebbi dunes, arrive at the camp operator’s lodge in Merzouga for breakfast, shower and maybe a quick swim at the lodge pool before you meet your new driver who will be taking you to Fes today. The journey will take you across the Ziz Valley, dotted with thousands of date palm trees, enjoying amazing views of some of the greatest oases of Morocco.

Stop At: Midelt, Midelt, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
Meet your new driver to Fes. After you’ve installed in your new van ( max of 6 passengers ), depart on a long drive to Fes crossing the Ziz Valley through Errachidia which is the capital of Tafilalt region, and we continue to Midelt where we will have lunch at leisure.

Pass By: Ifrane, Ifrane, Fes-Meknes
We will keep driving across the Middle Atlas Mountains with its Cedar Forests and Berber towns of Imouzzar and Ifran.
Pass By: Fes, Fes, Fes-Meknes
We arrive at Fes late in the afternoon. Your shared Marrakech to Fes desert tour will end with a drop off at your Fes riad or hotel of your choice
