Marrakech Trip Overview
Essaouira was discovered by the Phoenicians who settled there. Then it was conquered by Rome and Portugal. Before the end of the 15th century, the Portuguese had built the commercial and military port of Mogador (Essaouira today). This port is located at the foot of the ramparts of the city.
The forest covers 45% of the area of the province. The trees of which it is composed, in particular “the thuya” and “the argan tree” make the size of the city and are source of a craft activity for thousands of Souiri families.
