Leaving The Red City behind we set a course for the coast until, after a journey of around 2 hours, we arrive at Essaouira “The Pearl of the Atlantic”.
Rich in history, which can be seen predominantly in its wonderful coastal ramparts, famous in particular for its music, this ancient citadel on the West Atlantic coast of Africa literally means “wall” in the Berber language, you’ll soon discover why. The charming artistic blue and white town has been a favorite amongst barefoot travelers for decades. You can explore its peculiar wonders at your leisure.
Stroll along the historic ramparts and step back in time in a walking tour of sights and landmarks then have the freedom to do what you want, see the beautiful Moulay el Hassan square, the old medina (listed as a UNESCO heritage site), the port, the sandy beach, browse for souvenirs at the bazaars, or try freshly caught, local seafood at an open-air restaurant.
