Tamegroute had a religious school founded by Abu Hafs Umar b. Ahmed al Ansari became known in the years 1575–1576. The “Nasiriyya” got its name from the founder Sidi Muhammad bin Nasir al-drawi (1603-1674), who took over teaching at the school in the 1640s. Since that time, the leadership of the school of Nasir’s descendants has always been transferred from father to son without interruption to the present day.
-The founders of the religious brotherhood Nasiriyya wanted to increase the status of the Tamegroute village to that of a “medina”, that is, to make it a city. They brought in traders and artisans from Fez, which at that time had good relationships with Tamegroute. However, Tamegroute is now a small village again, but pottery has become a major attraction.
