The Majorelle Garden was first created by the French painter Jacques Majorelle in 1923. He had built a villa for himself there and expanded his property buying further parcels of land crowded with the painter's botanical collection from all over the world. After the death of Majorelle , the garden was neglected and abandoned until it was discovered by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé who had restored the house, enriched the botanical garden and brought them to their former glory. The villa Studio is now home to a Berber Culture Museam which contains the best of YSL personal collection of Berber items like authentic hand made silver jewelry , antique ceramic, rugs and other pieces of art.

The Koutoubia Minaret is the most famous landmark of Marrakech. It is attached to the Koutoubia mosque which is built in the late 12th century . It's not particularly very high but it towers over the Medina of Marrakech thanks to a long- standing law that forbids any other buildings in the city to rise above the Koutoubia.

The Mellah of Marrakech was created by decree of the Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib of the Saadian dynasty in 1558, outside of the walls of El Badi Palace. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Mellah was one of the main commercial areas of Marrakech old Medina. It was inhabited in the past by Jews who are expelled from the Iberian peninsula after the reconquista.

The Bahía Palace is a late 19th century palace which is most famous for its finest decoration. Its walls feature stucco carved with beautiful Arabic calligraphy , geometric patterns and arabesque designs. The ceilings are well decorated with the carved cedar wood from the middle Atlas Mountains . The ground is designed and decorated with the hand made tiles referred to as Zallij with beautiful colours originally from natural resources like minerals and plants.

At the heart of Marrakech , filling the alleys north of the central square , are the souks , mile after constricted mile of tiny, closet-sized emporia. The sheer number of the shops is overwhelming , 100 of them in 100 yards. Every section of the Souks has its speciality , with alleys devoted to everything from spices and ironwork to the ingredients necessary for casting magic spells.
