Marrakech Trip Overview
Camel trekking is a leisurely hike to discover the sand dunes of the M’hamid and Erg Chegaga in Morocco. You can ride a dromedary or go on foot.
You leave Marrakech in the minibus early in the morning and drive on the winding pass road over the high Atlas and along the Drâa valley to the edge of the desert. The Drâa River is the longest river in Morocco and feeds beautiful oases with water. The dromedary trekking takes you for 4 days through sand dunes, stone deserts and over dry plains. On the return journey you will visit Ait Ben Haddou and then drive back to Marrakech via the Ounila Valley and the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass.

Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Mhamid
Pass By: M’Hamid, M’Hamid, Souss-Massa
You leave Marrakech in the minibus early in the morning and drive south through the green precursors of the High Atlas on a winding pass road over the Tizi n’Tichka. After ouarzazat we will have lunch break. Continue through the Draa Valley to Mhamid. Overnight in camp. (B / L / D) Travel time: approx. 7.5 hours

Day 2: Race Ennakhl – Sidi Naji
Pass By: M’Hamid, M’Hamid, Souss-Massa
You walk first over sand dunes and through a small oasis, later over a dry plain and again through dunes to the camp at an old caravanserai at Marabout Sidi Naji. Lunch at the camp. Free afternoon. (B / L / D) Hiking time: 5 hours │ Overnight: in a tent

Day 3: Sidi Naji – Erg Zeher
Pass By: Erg Chigaga، Morocco
This beautiful and long stage begins with a hike over dunes. Later the path leads you over a wide dry plain and past the ruins of an old souk. Lunch on the way. Continuation of the hike to the camp next to the large Erg Zeher dune. (B / L / D) Hiking time: 6.5 hours │ Overnight: in a tent

Day 4: Erg Zeher – Erg Smer
Pass By: Erg Chigaga، Morocco
You reach the Drâa river bed via the large Erg Zeher dune, a dry plain and other dunes. You walk along the river bed to the camp at Erg Smer. Lunch at camp, afternoon at leisure. (B / L / D) Hiking time: 5 hours │ Overnight: in a tent

Day 5: Erg Smer – Chegaga

In the morning you cross the Drâa river bed and hike through a seemingly endless dry plain. Lunch on the way. In the afternoon you continue over sand dunes to the camp at Chegaga. (B / L / D) Hiking time: 7 hours │ Overnight: in a tent

Day 6: Erg Chegaga – Foum Zguit – Aït Ben Haddou (ouarzazat)
Pass By: Ouarzazate, Ouarzazate, Draa-Tafilalet
A jeep drives us to Foum Zguit. From there we continue by minibus to Aït Ben Haddou, where we spend the night in a hostel (B / L / D) Travel time: 7 hours │ Overnight: in the guest house
