Start your Day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech at 08h00 am. Cross the Houaz Planes towards the village of Sidi Lmokhtar just West of Marrakech. You will have a coffee break and continue past the unique Argan trees forest located in this area.

This is where you will find goats climbing trees in search of Argan nuts, a wonderful and rare sight to behold. You can stop at a local cooperative that processes Argan oil.

First, you will visit the fishing port and the old Portuguese fortifications. You can still see medieval war cannons lined up to overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Continue to the Medina (old town) with its well-maintained fortification dating from the 18th century. The major landmark of the medina is La Scala, which was built to combat foreign attacks from the sea. You can continue to Bab Laalouj (one of the main gates of Essaouira, then to the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter.
Along the way, various art shops, galleries, souvenir shops, and thuja carpentry stores line up in order. Choose one of the local cafes for a delicious seafood lunch and head to the Kasbah famous for serving as a military stronghold. If you are a beach lover, enjoy a stroll along the sandy Mogador Beach and watch the locals play beach ball. If you are brave enough, why not join a game for a few minutes; the people of Essaouira are very friendly. Otherwise, you can sunbathe while watching those who love kitesurfing or windsurfing.
