Tour 1 Option: Exploring Marrakech Old City Walking Tour:

Join me on this old city cultural, historical and touristic sightseeing tour. It is about exploring the secrets of the old city, best sights and local life in the fourth-largest city of Morocco. We will be walking inside and through the Medina’s narrow alleyways and landmarks such as Koutoubia Mosque, Bab Agnaou, Jamaa Elfna Square, etc.

Go on a cultural journey exploring through the streets of Marrakech to the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque. Its height (70m tall) makes of the Mosque’ minaret a landmark for navigating the city. The mosque’s interior is not open to non-Muslims, but you can still take a walk in its garden. As you walk around it, you will learn from much about its history and the 5 pillars of Islam, along with other religious matters.

From here, we head and continue our exploring adventure by stopping at the outside of the tomb of the founder of Marrakech Youssef Iben Tachfine. We discuss how he founded the city in 1062 by discovering the strategic location of Marrakech for the trade Caravans coming from the subsaharian areas.

Afterwards, we continue our walk to see Bab Agnaou that is one of the historical landmarks. From here we get inside the Kasbah quarter that hosted the royal family and the chancellors of Alomohad dinasty. After having a rich talk about The Moroccan society, economy, political system and culture, we head towards the Jewish quarter Mellah.

Take a walk in the Mellah, a historical Jewish quarter where Jewish people were living. Getting through Mella quarter we will arrive to the synagogue of the Jewish quarter; we get closer to the jewish community here by discovering the history, religious worshipping place of Synagogue and local life of the Moroccan Jews used to live in Marrakech and Morocco in General.

Carry out with your historical journey through the labyrinthine Medina narrow alleyways, until you reach the Jemae Elfna square.

Reaching Jamaa Elfna Square, the World Heritage site for culture as UNESCO named it. The lopsided square is the main stage for Moroccan Halqa (the art of storytelling), jugglers, snake charmers, pop musicians and tens of chefs stir vats of steaming snails!

The last point of the tour is the square of Jemaa Elfena; people interested in trying local food and having an idea about spices can join us to a restaurant for lunch or dinner and to the spices cooperative (optional)

The tour starts at the vibrant Jamaa Elfna square and covers different neighborhoods and districts using the back streets. We will visit the Jewish quarter and the Bahia Palace before walking through narrow alleyways along the magnificent souks. The tour leads us back to the famous Jamaa Elfna square, a Unesco-listed world heritage that abounds with food stalls (at night), musicians, acrobats, fortunetellers, storytellers, snake charmers, monkey tamers and a lot more, offering interesting experiences and good photo opportunities.

This trip is one of the best ways to explore or discover Morocco { Berber life and culture exactly }. So enjoy a full day trip from Marrakech to the most beautiful valley of the high Atlas Mountains.

The day will start in Marrakech at 9:00 am, I can pick up you from your hotel or your riad in marrakech then the tour starts and en route, you have many opportunities to stop in places such as Tahnout (the first stop on this tour).

So the driver will stop there for taking pictures with one of the true Berber village (Azrou) and also to get some information about this town. You will also the cooperative of Argan oil and you will learn how the women of the cooperative turn the argan nut into many of the different argan oil based products Morocco is famous for.

After this stop you will continue your tour passing on the zigzagging road Tibidert

If you are booking this trip on a Saturday you will have the opportunity to visit a traditional berber souk and market in Asni town.

Then we will continue our way to Imlil valley before explore this berber village. First you take a second break to drink tea or coffee, then trek 2:30 or 3 hours to discover this town and to know many details about my region. With your local guide in this trek you will visit many valleys, you will also visit the waterfalls and experience amazing views of the hightest mountains in North Africa

After the tour in Imlil you will stop to have a traditional lunch with a Berber family in one of the Berber houses.

After lunch you will continue our tour to another Berber village (Ait Souka). Finally the tour of the Berber village is finished and now you will be coming back to Molay Ibrahim river to riding camels in nature and to take pictures …it really is the best experience!

The day tour ends with travel and arrival back into Marrakech around 6 pm or 6:30 pm.
