The MCA Chicago is one of the nation’s largest multidisciplinary museums devoted to the art of our time with an international reputation for presenting ground-breaking exhibitions. Originally conceived as a "Kunsthalle" or non-collecting art hall hosted temporary exhibitions of new and experimental artists, the museum has no permanent exhibits on view. Instead, you'll find work by living artists across media in exhibits that change every few months. Up next is a visit to the studio of our late patron of the arts, May Henriquez, whose legacy is well preserved in her frozen in time sculpture studio. More art is on display around the premises, at our current local contemporary art exhibition in the Landhuis (1735) and in our inspiring cultural archive. Check out the outdoor studio of Hortence Brouwn, a local sculptor and the Cathedral of Thorns by artist Herman van Bergen, which is a building-sized labyrinth, made of approx. 92 million thorns from the Acacia Tortuosa bushtree in honor of Mother Nature and the Free Spirit. A walk through its art-filled corridors is a must-do experience. And finally visit the gift shop to take a lasting memory home. Refreshment included.

Enjoy a 5-hour tour to the city of Niteroi. Located in a short distance from downtown Rio, the city is known for its busy harbor, quiet pace, beautiful lookout points and the artwork done by architect Oscar Niemeyer. The easiest way to get there is by crossing the Guanabara Bay – which can be done by car through the Rio-Niterói Bridge. This path is already a tourist attraction as it allows you to have a panoramic city view of Rio de Janeiro. We visit the famous sites, such as the Teatro Popular, the Fundação Oscar Niemeyer, the Memorial Roberto Silveira, the Praça JK and the Centro Petrobras de Cinema Brasileiro, The highlight of the tour is the Museu de Arte Contemporânea, the MAC. The building is considered an architectural icon of post-war Modernism. Initially designed by Karl Schwanzer as the Austrian pavilion for the 1958 World's Fair in Brussels, it was later adapted for the museum's purposes and opened in 1962 as the Museum of the Twentieth Century. Under the name 20er Haus, it soon established itself as a vibrant hub. In 2002 the building was transferred to the Belvedere. Renovated in 2011, it was rebranded as the Belvedere 21 in 2018. Entry ticket only (no guided tour included). Visitors may proceed to the museums entrance directly and enjoy their visit individually.
