Koh Ker & Beng Mealea Full-Day Join-in Tour


A full day (upto 10 hours) tour of the remote, mystical and rarely visited temples of Koh Ker and Beng Mealea by shared minibus. Up to 10 individuals and couples etc may ride in the mini-bus. The tour includes an English speaking guide, who has been trained and has certification from the Apsara Authority who operate the temple complex. The transport is a 12-seater mini-bus, with 2 seats reserved for ice-box and guest hand baggage etc. Complimentary cold towels and iced bottled water are available on the bus. Guests can bring a packed lunch, or eat at the cafes nearby the temple, but guests are warned that the cafes are significantly more basic than in town.

The track initially approaches from the north on the same axis as the central sanctuary, which reveals itself at the far end, to the skirt the north-east quarter of the monument's second enclosure and lead to the end of the Eastern causeway, just before the remains of the second gopura.

The tour has three options, so it is fit to several types of visitors. We start our tour by going to Preah Vihear temple, situated on a 525-metre cliff of Dangrek Mountain. After lunch, we visit Koh Ker temple group, especially climb up the 36-metre high of a seven‑tiered pyramid temple, Prasat Thom or Prasat Prang. After Koh Ker, we come back to Siem Reap to visit Beng Mealea which is considered as the sister of Angkor Wat. Most part of the temple is not yet restored. There are stone blocks lying on the ground which make it a mysterious and quite temple of Angkor.

Peah Vihear Temple is a Khmer temple situated atop a 525-metre (1,722 ft) cliff in the Dangrek Mountains, in the Preah Vihear province of northern Cambodia and on the border of Kantharalak district (amphoe) in Sisaket province of eastern Thailand. Koh Ker Group located in the province of Preah Vihear, it was briefly the capital of the Khmer empire between 928 and 944 under king Jayavarman IV and his son Hasavaraman Beng Mealea Temple (its name means "lotus pond") located at the foot of Kulen Mountain. It was built as Hinduist temple, but there are some carvings depicting Buddhist motifs. We recommend to buy Angkor ticket minimum at least 2 days because Beng Mealea ticket is including with Angkor ticket.
