Silver Springs kayaking is open all year long, and it’s a fantastic place for adventure whenever you’re ready to go! Manatee season is November through March but there are 7 manatees that call Silver Springs home year round! So we have the possibility to see the occasional manatees. Whenever you decide to take the tour, you can count on blue, crystal clear water and tons of fascinating history about this 200 year-old attraction. Besides the possibility of seeing manatees and monkeys, there are all kinds of wildlife to be seen year round, and I’ve memorized all their hot-spots. I can’t wait to show you! A half hour fun boat ride through the mangroves takes you to Monkey River village where you head upriver into pristine rain forest. Expect to see crocodiles, huge iguanas on tree branches sunning themselves, turtles, and many species of tropical birds. Upriver, your licensed guide will lead you into the rain forest in search of howler monkeys. Nothing you read could prepare you for the adventure of hearing these monkeys for the first time…you just have to experience it! On this mellow hike, your guide will also point out the different plants and trees many of which are used as medicine by local bush doctors. As your hike through the jungle further from the river you may spot gibnuts (now known as royal rat since Queen Elizabeth dined on it), deer, ocelots, peccaries, tapirs, coatimundis and agoutis. Our Clear Canoes offer a unique experience for viewing the wildlife beneath you! Most springs in Florida have just one spring head. At Silver Springs there are 30 documented spring heads. With your Clear Canoeing rental you are able to paddle over the spring heads an enjoy the view. You are renting the canoe and you are free to explore without being tied down to a guide. No guide mean are you not rushed to keep up the pace. You can take your time viewing the wildlife and getting plenty of photos. Within Silver Springs State Parks dogs are permitted on a leash. Dogs MUST be on a leash at all times. Dogs are allowed on our canoe rentals. Each clear canoe is tandem. If you would like to ride solo you need to pay for an additional person with their name as "Solo".

This enchanted and secluded park is the save heaven of many different species of while life not only native of Costa Rica, but to the Americas. Travelling through the waters of the hidden lagoons and canals as the flowering vine covered trees blend in with their own water reflection we will have the unique experience of observing as close as possible several species of flora and fauna. It is easy to observe several species of crocodiles, toucan, monkeys, slots, macaws, iguanas and some others. Among such species we find the majestic green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) which has in Tortuguero 21 miles of beach to nest in (July to October); the largest nesting site of the western hemisphere. Tortuguero is considered the most important nesting site on the western half of the caribbean for the green turtle that comes to the beach to nest every year. . Please note that the nesting tour only takes place at night and you will not see turtles nesting on the beach during this one day tour.
