National Park Shuttles is the only Tangata Whenua (local people) operator from the National Park Village, offering a fantastic transport journey departing from the ONLY all-day secure carpark with a one-way transport shuttle service to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We transfer you from the private car park to the beginning of the trek (Mangatepopo). You can hike as fast or as slowly as you like. We give the same advice and safety brief, as we do with our returning shuttles. We do account for you if you have not returned to your vehicle. No waiting hours for a shuttle at the finish if you're fast. No running for your shuttle if you're slow. At the end of the trek, you will arrive at the 4-hour Ketetahi car park. You will walk another 900 meters from there, back to where your car is parked. Rest assured that no one is ever left behind!

Ngauruhoe’s cold water springs create a small oasis of lush yellow mountain buttercups and white foxgloves, and the pure Soda Springs allows us to refill our water bottles with Tongariro pure spring water, whilst having morning tea. Here we will talk and show you all things relevant to Tongariro and New Zealand including recent and past eruptions, geology, flora and fauna discovery and settlement of NZ. At Soda Springs we give you the option to return to the start or if conditions and logistics allow, upgrading to the full day walk to complete the Tongariro Crossing and see other key highlights such as the Blue and Emerald Lakes.

Hobbiton: Located near Matamata, Hobbiton is perhaps the most iconic Lord of the Rings filming location on the North Island. You can take a guided tour of the hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, and the lush gardens that were transformed into the Shire. Tongariro National Park: This UNESCO World Heritage site provided the backdrop for the volcanic landscapes of Mordor and Mount Doom. You can hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, which takes you through dramatic scenery used for scenes like Frodo and Sam's journey through Mordor. Mount Victoria, Wellington: This picturesque hill in Wellington offers panoramic views and was used for scenes in the films, such as the hobbits hiding from the Nazgûl in the "Shortcut to Mushrooms" scene. Worthy of a place on anyone’s bucket list. The volcanic crater of Mt Ruapehu and its milky blue waters are an impressive sight, making this a hike to remember. The lake changes colour from an amazing deep green to pale blue to solid dark grey depending on the craters temperature. Run exclusively for you and your family or friends, private tours are more flexible and can accommodate different fitness levels and avoid weather-exposed sections. We guide all year, summer and winter, with snow up until the end of December. This is a fantastic snow experience using crampons and ice axes. Please note this is not a track and is less stable walking than on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
