Wondering Reindeer is Sami reindeer experience company ho is offering guests authentic Sami adventures. We offer guests a small group tour (16pers) around Kvaløya island with majestic mountains and arctic fjords. During the trip around the island, guests will join Sami reindeer herder and his reindeers which are living in wildness close to Sommarøy, guests will enjoy reindeer herder calls for his reindeers who are living in free natural habitat. When the herd is gathered, there will be an opportunity to feed the animals by hand. Guests will also be gathering in traditional Sami lavvo (Sami tent) around open bonfire to enjoy Joik (traditional Sami songs) and learn more about Sami traditions. During the roundtrip we will visit Sommarøy Arctic Hotel for lunch/meal made of local ingredients. Sommrøy is a fantastic place and a group of islands in the open sea 1,5 hours driving from Tromsø. Guests will have time to explore Sommrøy by walking around before we leave the fishing community.

Our guides will provide winter clothing and snowmobile training before taking off on a 1 hour long snowmobile adventure through Arctic Circle forests. After the snowmobile journey, visit the husky and reindeer farm, where you can enjoy a 500m ride on your own reindeer sledge and receive a reindeer sledge driver’s license. Next, make your way to the Alaskan Huskies and experience them in action on a 800m long sleigh ride. Listen to the local reindeer herders as they tell you more about the herding lifestyle and how it is to be a reindeer herder in the 21st century. Highlights of Rovaniemi Day Tour A Explore the Lapland's capital town, Rovaniemi, and experience life in the Arctic! Your exquisite day will start with an easy 15 minutes hike for the beautiful scenery of Rovaniemi city. Climbing to the hilltop of Ounasvaara, the highest point in Rovaniemi, you will be in the middle of the dreamy Finnish forest. Ride on a sleigh in the local reindeer and husky farms. Meet Santa Claus in his village and get your Arctic adventurer certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle. Finally, you will learn everything about arctic in the Arktikum museum, where you will see the exhibition of arctic animals, indigenous people Sami, and local history from the ice age to the present.

Meet our herd of 300 reindeer and join on a 30-minute sleigh ride while enjoying the beautiful nature a and the wonderful northern night sky! We cannot predict when lady aurora shows up, but we are lucky to have a location with very little light pollution and beautiful nature to experience this phenomenon in all its splendour! After a sleigh ride of about 30 minutes, you will head towards the fence and feed our lovely reindeers. Right after, you will head to our Gamme-hut where you will enjoy some hot drinks and you will get to taste our reindeer stew or our hearty vegan soup. When we are all comfortable, our Sami guide will tell you more about the Sami culture and history, they will show you some of our traditional crafts.
