A Bhori Muslim with ancestral roots that trace back to Yemen, she grew up with her cousins and relatives in a cottage in Agripada, the heart of the Muslim area of Mumbai. At the age of 13 she moved to the suburbs with her Bohri mother and Maharashtrian Hindu father. 13 years later she married a Parsi, so she now her cooking is an eclectic mix of Bohri Muslim, Maharashtrian and Parsi traditions. Her passion and love for food guided her to switch professions and start a catering business called Cold Food Company which specializes in dishes that are best enjoyed cold or at room temperature. Yakuta believes that every meal has a story to tell and she looks forward to sharing hers with guests.

We started this business after being encouraged by our first guest, who is a friends Wife. We took her out, at her request, to experience these things we are offering, The experience was amazing for all of us, and now we wish to share this with you. An overnight Experience is a unique opportunity to participate in the life of a rural Rwandan and her/his family. Home Stay hostesses live in homes made of mud or bricks, which usually have one larger front room for receiving visitors and a few smaller bedrooms for the family. In the enclosed area behind the house, there is an outdoor kitchen, enclosed pit latrine and bathing outhouse, animal stalls and family work space. Most host families have about four children at home. In Rwandan culture, guests are considered a blessing! Your Home Stay Experience begins with a drive to a nearby village, where you and your BGE guide will be welcomed by your rural community hosts. This experience can be long or short depending on the guest's wishes and it is popular with students that are participating in abroad study programs,internships and researches.


Learn to Cook Moroccan Family Recipes with a Marrakech Native in Her Home


Join your host Hind at her home to cook a traditional Moroccan meal from recipes she has perfected over the years. In your hands-on cooking lesson, you will learn to make two to three dishes from scratch. The lesson will last about two and a half hours and you will prepare an authentic tajine, zalouk (eggplant salad) or taktouka (a zesty dip of cooked tomatoes and roasted peppers) and couscous. If there is anything in particular you would like to learn, feel free to ask Hind ahead of time. Once you're done cooking, you will sit down at the dining table to share the meal you helped prepare with Hind. Experience a taste of true Moroccan cuisine and dive into the country's wonderful culture with this welcoming local.
